THIS year marks the 30th year for the Rainbows section of Girlguiding and the 1st Cantref Emlyn Rainbow unit celebrated with a 30th birthday barbecue.

The Brownies and Guides were invited and around 40 girls from across the three units attended the event at the West Wales Museum of Childhood.

This year is also a big birthday for the 1st Cantref Emlyn Rainbow Unit as it turned 15. Rainbows is the youngest section of Girlguiding for girls age five to seven, the girls then move onto Brownies and then Guides.

"The Rainbows meet weekly and have lots of fun making new friends, earning badges, trying new things and going on trips,” said Hannah Bowd, one of the organisers.

“Recently we've been tobogganing, to Folly Farm with other Rainbow units from across Wales, and left plants around Newcastle Emlyn for people to find as a random act of kindness."
