THE organisers of the community share offer to purchase the Tafarn Sinc pub in Rosebush have been astounded by the public response to the campaign for purchasing the well-known iconic pub.

A total of £35,600 has been raised by the end of week one to help buy the Pembrokeshire pub, which could close at the end of the year if it is not sold when the current owners retire.

Cris Tomos of PLANED community development, which is supporting the campaign, said: "Following the public meeting on July 12, the cheques and bank payments have been flooding in.

"The printed copies of the share pledge forms are now out and about and it is hoped that more local people will have a chance to part own this important community asset."

There are now plans in place to visit similar community pub ventures from across the county. A great example is Tafarn Tyn-y-capel, near Wrexham, and it is hoped to arrange a bus full of people to visit well established community pubs to establishthe best practise.

Anyone interested in purchasing a share pledge can visit www.tafarnsinc.cymru or call in one of the following shops now distributing the share offer documentation: Clunderwen Shop, Caffi Beca, Tafarn Sinc, Siop Glandy Cross, Caffi Garreg Las, Clwb Rygbi Crymych, Maenclochog Hardware, Maenclochog Garage, Awen Teifi, Ken Davies Butcher, Crymych, with additional shops soon to be announced.
