A 150-year-old Welsh hat which was worn while its owner listened to famous preachers William Williams and Daniel Rowlands has gone on display at Cardigan Castle.
The moleskin covered hat was gifted to the castle by Meinir Jarman of Cardigan.
It belonged to Peggy Ffynnon Berw, of Cwmpenmorfa, near Llangrannog and dates from the late 18th century. Peggy used to wear it along with her Sunday best when travelling by horse and cart to hear the eminent preachers William Williams, Pantycelyn and Daniel Rowlands in Llangeitho.
Mrs Jarman handed it over to the castle this week.
“It’s far better that it goes on display so people can see it rather than being put in an attic,” she said.
