PERSONAL fitness instructor David Maund of Newcastle Emlyn will attempt to walk the Ceredigion Coastal Path from Cardigan to Ynys Las in one hit having completed the 60 mile Jurassic Coast Challenge from Weymouth to Dorset recently.

This challenge will take David and four friends 24 hours and they will walk all day and all night.

The coastal path, a distance of 60 miles will be a tough challenge for David and team-mates Alan Banfield, Lorraine Hughes Gage and Marc Baulk.

“It will be a huge challenge. The Jurassic Coast Challenge was hard and opened my eyes a lot. To be honest, it nearly killed me, but it’s made me more confident and more determined,” said David, who has organised the coastal walk for Saturday, 15 July.

His wife Alicia and mother Mary Stephenson will be joining them for part of the walk offering refreshments.

David added: “We will be leaving Cardigan at around 9am so we can have as much daylight as possible. We will walk a lot of it in the dark too, so the earlier we leave, the better.”

David and his friends will be raising money for the Breast Care Unit, Llanelliand the swimming pools in Aberaeron, Narberth and Newcastle Emlyn.

“It will be nice to get other people to come along and to walk some legs of the journey along the coastal path. They don’t have to walk it all, only part of it. We have beautiful scenery around here and although a rather mad challenge, and it will be painful, it will be a real sense of achievement at its end. Let’s hope the weather will play ball,” added David.
