LLECHRYD Parti yn y Parc committee members are appealing for people to dig out old photographs of the village. These will be used in an exhibition during carnival week held on Friday, June 30 at the Coracle Hall.

So far, a photograph of local men building Llechryd bridge has been given dating back to 1912, as well as the main road through the village with children playing in 1909 and a fisherman in his coracle on the River Teifi in 1882.

“We also been given an original map of the village dating back to 1808 and we will frame this on top of the original frame and exhibit it on the evening,” said Llechryd Parti yn y Parc committee member Amanda Edwards.

She added: “It’s so important that people know the history of the village, what went on here and how the village has evolved. The Community Council has a map that we are borrowing.

“It shows where farmers in the area paid their rent to the manor homes – it’s so interesting and we would love to receive more photographs of old properties and events to display.”

Gethin Griffiths from the village who has a wealth of knowledge of history on Llechryd will also be present during the evening if anyone has any questions for him. He has supplied photographs of the village school in the 1930s.

Anyone with photographs or memorabilia can contact Amanda on 07973 145790.
