DAMAGE to a potentially life-saving defibrillator in St Dogmaels has been condemned as ‘beyond belief.”

The defibrillator, situated at the toilets in the village’s main car park, was vandalised sometime last Friday night or Saturday Morning (March 31-April 1).

St Dogmaels community councillor Jonathan Martin said: “It is beyond belief that anyone would do this.

“I can only hope it was someone who was drunk, although that is no excuse, rather than someone wilfully attacking it.

“It will be repaired and it’s relatively easy to get it done but the fact is it is out of use in the mean time and if someone has a problem it is not there to help them.

“Let’s just hope it hits home with whoever did it as it could be their life it saves somewhere down the line.”

The defibrillator was donated to the village by Tesco about a year ago and people in the village have been trained to use it, with other training courses planned for the future.

Money has also been set aside by the community council to install another defibrillator, probably at the other end of the village.

Police are investigating criminal damage and anyone with information should call 101.
