THE British Heart Foundation Fundraising branch in Cardigan is celebrating 30 years of raising money for life saving heart research.

The branch was set up in 1987 with volunteers giving their time and energy to accelerate the fight against heart disease.

Over the years the branch has taken part and organised a range of fundraising activities to help raise vital cash, from coffee mornings to collections.

To celebrate the occasion, the group held their annual dinner at Gwbert Golf Club and will be holding a celebratory coffee morning at the Cardigan Tabernacle on Thursday February 9, from 9am until noon.

Peter Barker, chairman of the Cardigan branch, said: “We’re delighted to celebrate supporting the BHF for the past 30 years.

“We’ve had a wonderful time taking part and organising events in the local community and we would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us over the last 30 years and look forward to continuing our support of the BHF’s life saving research over the coming years.”

Jayne Lewis, BHF fundraising manager for South West Wales said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the members of the Cardigan branch for their dedication and enthusiasm and we are really grateful to the group for supporting us over the past 30 years.

“Also thank you to the local community who have supported the branch over the past 30 years.

“Heart and circulatory disease affects around 7million people in the UK and thanks to the Cardigan branch we’ll be able to fund even more research into these conditions.”
