Girls and young women from 1st Teifi Senior Section in Cardigan joined thousands of fellow Girlguiding members up and down the UK for a spectacular year of celebration to mark 100 years of Girlguiding’s Senior Section.

Six members from 1st Teifi Senior Section enjoyed an exclusive sleepover at Bounce Below in Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Blaenau Ffestiniog, on November 19 along with over 100 other members from Girlguiding Cymru.

The young women were challenged by a thrilling bouncing and climbing session in the caves and finished off the evening completing the Mannequin Challenge.

The group enjoyed a warm meal together before re-entering the caves and settling down to sleep on the giant underground trampolines.

Katie Walker,19, said: “Having a sleepover in Bounce Below was such a unique experience, one that I would never have had the opportunity to do if it wasn't for Girlguiding.

"It was wonderful to get together with girls all over Wales and to see old friends and the whole weekend was so much fun.”

Girlguiding’s Senior Section is open to all girls aged 14 to 25, offering a host of opportunities to older girls in guiding – from international travel and outdoor adventure sports to peer mentoring, advocacy and leadership skills.

The Senior Section enables girls and young women aged 14 to 25 to be involved with Girlguiding in a flexible way, with each young woman choosing her own level of commitment; from attending a Senior Section group to training as a Young Leader with Girlguiding’s younger sections, Rainbows (5-7 years), Brownies (7-10) and Guides (10-14).
