A FATHER-TO-BE from Llechryd has admitted possessing cocaine.

Dylan Savinelli, 28 pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a Class A drug when he appeared at Aberystwyth Justice Centre last week.

The court heard that on September 15, police spotted Savinelli smoking at a carpark in Aberporth.

However, when Savinelli saw the police he moved behind a parked car.

The officers suspected he was attempting to dispose of drugs and arrested him.

A search of the car park was carried out and the officers found a small clear bag containing cocaine weighing 0.5 grams.

Savinelli admitted that the drugs were his.

The court was told Savinelli claimed the drugs had been a "one-off" purchase.

The defence told the court that Savinelli was not an experienced drug user and that he had been "ripped off" when he bought the drugs.

Magistrates heard that the street value of the cocaine found was between £45 and £50 but Savinelli had paid £100 for it.

Savinelli said told the court he was sorry for buying the drugs and knew it was "a silly thing to do".

He added that he "needed to grow up" because he had a baby on the way.

Savinelli was fined £240 fine and ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £120 in court costs.
