“That was hard!”
The first words uttered by Cardigan's Mallt Maskellon crossing the finishing line of the recent Snowdon Marathon gave only a small indication of the challenge he had completed.
Malcolm Maskell, of Teifi Furniture, had entered himself and his son after celebrating last New Year's Eve and informed Mallt a few days later that he was doing the Snowdon marathon this year.
Mallt immediately thought well if I'm going to all that effort I'll run for charity and asked Cardigan Cancer Care if he could represent them. “I've lost two grandparents and lots of acquaintances to cancer over the years so the charity is close to my heart,” he said.
The volunteers at Cardigan Cancer Care were extremely helpful and assisted him in organising the fund raising.
Mallt completed the marathon in four hours and 49 minutes alongside a large contingency of Cardigan runners, many of whom were very happy to sponsor Mallt even though they completed the race themselves.
Mallt would like to thank everyone who sponsored and enabled him to raise £757.50 for the charity.
