It could be just one of those things, but a Cardigan mum-of-five is questioning why five of her watches stopped on the same day.

Things took an even stranger turn when Julie Williams realised that two of her watches had stopped at precisely 9.27am on Monday, September 19. A third had stopped exactly an hour earlier.

With Halloween on our doorstep and people teasing her about the witching hour, Julie is getting rather superstitious.

"I love my watches and I always change them around," said Julie.

"I’ll wear one today and change it for another tomorrow, but on Monday when I noticed my watch had stopped, I went to get another and I noticed that watch had stopped too.

"I couldn’t believe it, and when I checked, all five had stopped - with two of them having stopped at 33 minutes to ten, and one other at 33 minutes to nine."

The bizarre coincidence has already become the main topic of conversation amongst Julie's work-mates and her family and friends.

Her children Adam, Jason, Owen, Lewis and Halle all think it rather odd.

"They think it’s really strange and at first my husband Brent thought it was a bit spooky, but he’s just dismissed it now," said Julie.

"But I can’t put it aside and I’d like to find out why they stopped – could it be just the batteries or is there something else going on?"

Julie is now starting to wonder whether the case of the stopped watches has some deeper meaning.

She has checked all all the house clocks, but the fact they all seem in perfect working order only adds to the mystery.

"It’s not like one or two of my watches had stopped and the batteries had run out, all five had stopped," she said.

"They were also all purchased at different places and at different times such as birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries.

"I’m now too scared to touch them and I’m also wondering how much new batteries are going to cost – I’ll soon find out."
