The new vicar-in-training for the Cardigan group of churches will be donning a chef’s hat and sharpening his knives in a bid to spread the word.

The church group is to re-introduce monthly lunches for the community and the curate of St Mary's will be looking to feed the masses with talents he mastered in a former life.

Before receiving his calling, Christopher Frost worked in kitchens and restaurants in Cardiff and Aberystwyth - even turning his hand to managing one of them.

“When I’m in the kitchen, and things seem to be getting a bit too hot to handle, I try to inspire myself by imagining what a veteran chef like Gordon Ramsay would do in the situation," said Christopher.

"I try to keep my language a lot cleaner than his as I’m working, though.

“Community lunches here have been so successful in the past at bringing people together, particularly people who don’t often have opportunities to come out and meet others, or families who are looking for a good value lunch.

“We want to keep our lunches relaxed, enjoyable and very affordable, and to keep welcoming everyone in the community to join us, whoever they might be.

"Our team want to do it because it’s our way of trying to share with the community the love we’ve experienced from God in our own lives.”

The next lunch is served at 12.30pm in St Mary’s Church Hall, on Tuesday, October 4.

A cooked lunch and a dessert will cost £3, with a vegetarian option available.

Lunches will continue on the first Tuesday of every month.
