A chance to be regaled with songs and stories by a legend of the Celtic folk scene is happening at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village.

For one evening only Robin Williamson, hailed ‘the Celtic Bard’ and best known as the founder of The Incredible String Band, is performing in the enchanting setting of Castell Henllys.

Castell Henllys Manager Rhonwen Owen said: “Songs and stories played a big part in Celtic culture more than 2,000 years ago when the Demetae tribe lived at Castell Henllys.

“This is a rare opportunity to huddle around the fire at our reconstructed hilltop fort as Robin enthrals you with songs and myths from our Celtic past.

“Storytelling, rhythm and song was one of the ways in which Iron Age villagers passed on the myths and legends of their ancestors to their children. This special event with Robin in a place so steeped in Celtic heritage promises to be a unique evening to remember.”

An Evening of Celtic Myths and Songs with Robin Williamson is on Saturday, August 27 and costs £15 for adults, £12 concessions, £10 for children or £40 for a family ticket (two adults and up to two concessions). Booking is advisable, call 01239 891319. Please bring a torch.
