A CEREDIGION County Councillor has been appointed as deputy chairman for the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority (MAWWFR).
Llanrhystud councillor David Rees-Evans was given the post following the authority's AGM last week.
Describing the appointment as "a privilege", Cllr Rees-Evans said: "I look forward to working with the executive board, firefighters and departmental staff over the year ahead to ensure the safety of our communities.”
Neath and Port Talbot councillor Janice Dudley, the former deputy, was appointed chairman.
Cllr Dudley said: “Our statutory vision for the next five years is to be world leaders in emergency response and community safety, this I am certain we can achieve with the authority, staff and our partners working together towards this goal.
"I also wish to encourage the Welsh language to be used within the authority if they so wish."
