Cardigan Town Centre Partnership is spearheading plans to bring free wifi to Cardigan town.
Mayor Cllr Clive Davies launched the bid at Cardigan’s Guildhall market square this week accompanied by Mayoress Myra Davies.
He was also joined by members of the Town Centre Partnership Ann Stokoe of Menter Aberteifi, Cllr Catrin Miles and Sue Lewis from Cardigan Castle.
Martin Radley, chair of Cardigan Traders, was absent from the photo.
The partnership – which meets regularly – is composed of various agencies in town including Cardigan Traders, Menter Aberteifi, Cardigan Castle, 4CG, Best of Cardigan and Teifi Valley, the town and county councils plus Small World Theatre and Coleg Ceredigion.
“The TCP looked at this project over a year ago following on from projects being developed in towns in Pembrokeshire and Powys,” said Cllr Davies.
“It would bring an added benefit for shoppers and visitors to the town. It will also add a new dimension to the vistor experience of the town"
The TCP launched the successful town loyalty card last year and is currently completing a town leaflet with support from traders and Ceredigion County Council. Work is also underway to develop a funding bid for a Christmas festival in the town.
