TWO men have been cleared of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old Cardigan girl knowing she was under the age of consent.

Jason Williams, aged 20, of 24 Maes yr Haf, Cardigan and Mark Jones, 22, of Pant y Grwndi Farm, Fishguard, were discharged and no longer play a part in a trial at Swansea crown court.

They had denied the allegation.

Kamil Anton, 28, of Mandalay, Gwbert. Was also cleared of knowingly having intercourse with an underage girl.

But he remains on trial accused of raping her. He has denied that charge.

A fourth man, Rhys Michael Jones, aged 18, of 10 Maes y Felin, Cardigan, has admitted underage sex.

Anton told the jury today that he ran a restaurant in Cardigan and feared losing his partner, his son and his business.

He said his partner had been six months pregnant with their daughter when he went to a party after finishing work on October 18, 2014.

He told the jury he saw the 14-year-old walking around the flat wearing just underwear and a vest. And thought to himself that “something was going on” but didn’t know what.

Anton said he went to sleep on a sofa and the following morning asked the girl if she wanted a cup of coffee.

“She smirked at me and we kissed. We had sex but it was with her consent.

“I kissed her and it just carried on,” he added.

After sex he asked her how old she was and she told him she was 14.

“I said that is not funny. I did not believe her. She looked older to me, old enough to buy a drink in a bar,” he added.

The jury is expected to begin considering its verdict tomorrow (Fri).

The trial continues.
