Lucky Ceredigion friends meet Wales rugby hero Shane Williams and win tickets to the SSE SWALEC Finals Day

A group of pals from Ceredigion have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend an exclusive “Meet and Greet” with former IRB World Player of the Year Shane Williams at the Principality Stadium.

Ten lucky competition winners were chosen at random to come to the home of Welsh rugby with three friends or family members for a very special, behind the scenes guided tour with the rugby legend, courtesy of SSE SWALEC.

Shane said: “It’s been great to meet fans and re-live some of my career highlights, from stepping out onto the pitch at the Principality Stadium for the first time, that heart-breaking loss against Newport in the Challenge Cup, to my very last International home game.

“I have memories here that’ll stay with me forever.”

Llyr Tobias from Llandysul said: “We all thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Friend Ben James added: “It was a superb Q&A and a pleasure to meet one of the greats, Shane Williams.”

The pair thanked SWALEC for their chance to meet the Wales legend.

The winners have also been given tickets for this year’s Finals Day, to see six semi-professional rugby clubs from across Wales battle it out in three dramatic finals in a bid to take home the coveted SSE SWALEC Cup, Plate and Bowl on May 1.

Shane said: “It’s really important to support grass-roots rugby as these guys are the stars of the future.

“I started off as a scrum-half for Amman United, then got my first professional contract at Neath.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without those clubs.”
