As Twitter celebrates its tenth birthday, research reveals that people in Ceredigion are among the biggest ‘tweeters’ anywhere in the UK.
A survey by digital marketing agency Jellyfish shows that Ceredigion ranked comfortably highest in Wales in terms of tweets per head.
Ceredigion tweeters were also third throughout the UK – behind only Kingston-upon-Thames and the Scottish Highlands.
Plaid Cymru’s Elin Jones who unlike many politicians operates her bilingual Twitter account (@elinceredigion) personally, has been ranked 8th among the most influential politicians online in Wales.
Elin Jones AM said: “Politicians are increasingly using social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter as another tool to engage with people about the key issues of the day. The interaction is immediate, and a great way to keep in touch with fast-moving events.
“But social media can never replace traditional forms of communication. So I still look forward to holding advice surgeries and knocking on doors as well!”
