Action for Children’s quiz night at the Ship Inn in Llangrannog for their Ceredigion Young Carers service has raised £535.

Ceredigion Young Carers help vulnerable children and young people aged between 6-18 years, who care for a parent, sibling or close member of their family, who suffer with a long term illness, a mental health disorder, disability or a misuse of alcohol or drugs.

Service coordinator, Nicola Crossman said: “To raise over £500 from a local pub quiz is fantastic and I’m really grateful to all those who turned up and made it such a successful night. These children and young people do an incredible job for the people they care for and shoulder adult responsibilities at such a young age.

“We currently support around 65 young carers in Ceredigion and it’s humbling to work with these amazing young people. The money raised will help me take them away for a short holiday and contribute to giving them a childhood they deserve.”

Raffle prizes were donated from a number of local businesses including vouchers for the Hungry Trout in Newquay and Pentre Arms in Llangrannog.

The Ship Inn, as well as hosting the quiz also donated a meal for two as one of the raffle prizes.
