Ceredigion's Cardi Bach bus service has been secured for another thanks to funding from the Welsh Government.
Local Plaid Cymru AM Elin Jones has welcomed the announcement by the Welsh Government Transport Minister.
The bus, which serves coastal communities in the New Quay, Aberporth and Cardigan areas, was under threat in 2014 after European funding came to an end.
But after a campaign by local residents and tourism operators, along with Elin Jones AM, the Welsh Government stepped in to provide interim funding. This arrangement will now continue in 2016-17.
Elin Jones, Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, said: “I’m pleased that the Welsh Government continues to recognise the importance of the Cardi Bach bus service, and that the Minister has decided to renew the financial support for the service.
“Communities such as Gwbert, Llangrannog and Cwmtydu are ill-served by other routes, meaning that the Cardi Bach is a lifeline for local residents. It’s also essential for tourism in the area, as it allows walkers to explore the coastal path.
“I hope for a period of stability in funding, so that people can plan ahead with a timetable that’s familiar.”
