A WARNING has been issued after a large number of residents in Cardigan and surrounding districts received correspondence informing them they had won a large amount of money on a lottery.

The correspondence with the address of Postcode Lotto in London informed people they had won £825,000 in a draw made in Spain and that had a fortnight in which to claim the prize.

It states: “Prize winning is released to you as soon as your processing fees is paid. For security purposes and clarity we strongly advice that you keep your winning information confidential until your claim has been fully processed and your money remitted to you.”

A resident in the Llechryd area who did not want to be named said: “The address given on the letter is a dental practice. This is obviously a scam to get people to part with money.”

A Citizens Advice spokesperson said: “We would urge people not to send any money in response to this letter and if they have any further concerns to contact Action Fraud or the police.”
