NEARLY 13 years ago, Tim Hawker nearly lost his life following a horse riding accident whilst out hunting in Crymych.

Having been thrown from his horse when it reared, he suffered both head and leg injuries and was conveyed from the scene by air to Morriston Hospital in Swansea within 11 minutes.

To thank the Wales Air Ambulance, his daughter Darcy Hawker has abseiled down the Keep of Pembrokeshire Castle to raise money for the vital service.

Darcy, aged 15, raised £411.70 and is grateful to all who sponsored her.

She said: "The speed of actions on that day, we believe, saved his life as he was diagnosed as having a fractured skull and bleeding on the cranium. My family and I are extremely grateful and have pledged to support theWales Air Ambulance for many years to come."

She added: "The launch of the new Air Base at Llanelli will require donations of £500,000 for it to be built but will save thousands of lives in the long run."
