Plaid Cymru members in Mid and West Wales have selected regional list candidates for next year's Welsh General Election in May.

Current regional AM Simon Thomas was placed first, with Llanelli candidate Helen Mary Jones second, and Pembrokeshire’s Vicky Moller third.

Penparcau resident Simon Thomas said: “I am delighted to be re-selected as the top candidate for the region. It is a real privilege to have the trust of the members in the region. I'd like to thank every candidate that took part in the process. I will ensure the strongest campaign in 2016 to win more seats and a Plaid Cymru Welsh Government.”

Ceredigion’s Plaid Cymru AM Elin Jones, who is standing for re-election in the constituency next year, said: “Over the past four years, I have worked together with Simon Thomas in his role as regional AM on issues such as Bronglais and the campaign to improve rail links. I’m very pleased that he has been reselected to lead Plaid Cymru’s strong team of regional candidates for the 2016 Welsh Election.”

Llanelli candidate Helen Mary Jones commented: “Congratulations to Simon. I'm pleased to come second on the regional list. I'll be fighting to regain Llanelli next May and ensure Leanne Wood is elected the next First Minister.”

Vicky Moller added; “I'm delighted and very proud of the confidence people have shown in me and my vision.”
