A SOUTH Ceredigion man claims there were ‘special reasons’ for driving while over the drink drive limit.
Roy Thomas, aged 56, of Heol y Felin, Penparc, Cardigan, pleaded guilty to driving while double the legal alcohol limit, when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday morning.
The court heard that Thomas had been driving a Fiat Idea at the Bryn Glas Estate, Aberporth, on June 7. He was found to have 71mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35mg.
Magistrates were told that there was an ‘unusual set of circumstances’ which led to Thomas driving that day.
The case was adjourned for a special reasons argument hearing on July 16.
Thomas was released on unconditional bail until that date.
