Four people around Aberaeron have been arrested for suspected illegal waste activity.

The Environmental Crime Officers from Natural Resource Wales (NRW) executed a number of search warrants at premises around Aberaeron.

They arrested and bought into custody four people, these include three men, aged 74, 57 and 40, and with one woman, aged 65.

They are all currently awaiting questioning.

Evidence is now being gathered, which will be reviewed as NRW consider the appropriate enforcement action.

The operation has been supported by officers from Dyfed Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Health and Safety Executive and Ceredigion County Council.

Lyn Richards, Environmental Crime Team Leader, from NRW said: “Those acting illegally can undercut and undermine legitimate businesses, so if we are concerned that someone is not playing by the rules, we will investigate and take action.

“Waste operators have strict rules which they have to abide by for a reason - to make sure that businesses are on a level playing field, and that people and the environment are protected.”
