A new on-line directory of Ceredigion artists was launched by Assembly Member Elin Jones on Friday, June 19.

Demonstrating the directory at the Bontgoch studio of sculptor Jon Evans, Andrew Francis, a painter from Adpar and the Trail’s webmaster, explained: “Having a directory on line is an easy way for people to find art and contact artists all year round, not just during the Trail period in the summer.

“ Buyers can easily see the range of art on offer and how to contact the artist direct. There are also details of exhibitions, workshops and viewings throughout the year.”

Elin Jones said: “I’m interested in art but August can be a busy month and I may not get the chance to go around everywhere I’d like to on the Trail. Having an all year round Directory is a bang up to date resource.

“You can see at a glance the wealth of art available in the county and how to contact the artists. The Art Trail makes an important contribution to Ceredigion’s tourist industry and the local economy.”

Trail Co-ordinator, photographer Peter Jackman added: “The Art Trail is now much more than our highly successful open studio event in the summer. We promote local artists all year round by organising exhibitions and setting up shared gallery space. Ceredigion is fast becoming the art capital of West Wales.”
