CEREDIGION has been awarded funding by the Welsh Government under the Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) for 2015.

This funding enables the county council to employ an additional member of staff for improvement works on the rights of way network in Ceredigion.

As part of the programme for 2015, work has been carried out over the last two months on a network of bridleways in the Aeron Valley, and on bridleways linking Lledrod to the Ystwyth Trail.

Most of the work on the Aeron Valley network around Talsarn and Bwlch Llan has been carried out with the assistance of a volunteer group from the Lampeter Ramblers Association.

These bridleways were already accessible but they have now been upgraded to an improved standard, with better way-marking.

Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economic and Community Development Services Cllr Gareth Lloyd said: “We as a council are very proud that we have received this annual contribution from the government, which is essential for the important work of improving rights of way in Ceredigion.

These improvements means individuals and groups, be it tourists or locals, are able to enjoy the beauty of the country, and jobs are also being created. The contribution of volunteers and the cooperation of land owners has also been valuable, and enabled the council to gain the best value out of this work.”
