RESIDENTS in Ceredigion are being urged to "make their health plans for Easter early" as all the GP surgeries in the county will be closed from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
The county's Local Health Board is also advising patients to make sure that they have enough tablets or medicine to last for the four days.
Some pharmacies will be open over the holiday, but on Easter Sunday they will be operating a reduced service. Patients are advised to check with their local chemist for availability over the holiday period.
Patients who need to see or talk to a doctor or nurse over the bank holiday period can access advice and help by contacting the Out of Hours Service on 08708 509 508 or NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47.
A health board press statement adds: "It is important that the 999 ambulance service is used where urgent medical attention is needed, for example if someone has chest pains, difficulty in breathing, severe loss of blood or loss of consciousness."
It adds that emergency dental treatment can be obtained by contacting the NHS Direct Dental Line on 0845 60 10 128. Callers will be able to speak to a specially trained nurse and if appropriate given advice on how and where to obtain emergency dental treatment.
