A YOUNG man from Cardigan who has turned his life around had the chance to meet Prince Charles a few weeks ago in Liverpool.

Osian Roberts, aged 24, who was born and bred in Cardigan found himself homeless after he became addicted to drugs.

He has now be clean for a year and in an attempt to move forward, find work and find a home he moved to Liverpool about seven weeks ago.

He was taken into the Home Ground Hostel in Liverpool which caters for homeless people aged between 16 and 35.

Each year the Hostel assists over 100 young homeless people and all of those referred to project are in real need of accommodation and support to help turn their life around.

They provide complete care to their residents from accommodation, to training, to support.

Prince Charles was reunited with the pioneers of the hostel set up with the support of one of his charitable schemes, over twenty years ago.

The Prince of Wales spent over an hour at the hostel meeting with its pioneer’s and the residents that were being helped by them.

Osian said: “Prince Charles spoke to me for a good ten minutes; he was quite entertaining and seemed genuinely interested in my story and the work that the hostel did.

“I was quite nervous to begin with when I spoke to him, I didn’t want to put my foot in it like I always do but it was all fine once I got started.

“I moved here to find more opportunities; I’m even studying plumbing on a course here in Liverpool. I’m really trying hard to do better now.”
