January 10, 2001 15:33: Two vicious and unprovoked racial attacks in Hayes over the weekend left victims bloodied and bruised.
The first assault took place just after 10pm outside the Grapes Hotel in Uxbridge Road.
The 23-year-old Asian victim had just got off a bus after visiting a friend and was walking south when he was approached by a gang of six white youths.
One of the youths shouted racial abuse at him and pushed him to the ground, before he was dragged into nearby bushes and severely punched and kicked.
He suffered a fractured finger, multiple bruising to his head, and bruising and cuts to his arm and knee.
The victim cannot remember much of the attack, and was only able to describe two of the suspects, both of whom were aged 19 and around 5ft 10" tall. The men were also wearing black caps, one with a white jumper and the other a dark jumper.
Information on this assault to DC William McDowell on 8246 1541.
The second brutal assault occurred the following night in Ashford Avenue at around 11.30pm.
The 42-year-old Asian victim was cycling to work when four white youths pushed him off his bike.
The following beating in which he was kicked in the head and jabbed with a sharp stick, left the victim with very severe cuts to his eye, mouth and hand.
A tooth was also broken in the attack and he was taken to Hillingdon Hospital for treatment.
The youths were described by the victim as aged between 13 and 17 years. Information to PC Beverley Smith at Hayes on 82461641.
