Canadian Pastor Rob Filgate and his wife Andrea are gearing up for a busy Easter at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Cardigan.

The couple arrived in Cardigan in June 2013 to pastor Mount Zion Baptist Church on Priory Street, and are enjoying life in west Wales.

Pastor Rob Filgate said: "We absolutely love Cardigan. The people are great. And the church is amazing. Leaving Canada and our grown children was not easy, but we have been warmly welcomed and feel right at home. And who wouldn’t love Wales with the vibrant green hills and rugged coast lines and beaches? "

While a lot of churches in Wales seem to be in decline, Mount Zion is thriving, and holds a service for more than 130 people every Sunday morning.

Pastor Filgate added: "It is very exciting to see the church growing. We have new people, young and old, coming every week. I would like to say there is some brilliant plan behind what we are doing, but the simple truth is that people are longing for meaning and purpose in their lives and God has the answers they are looking for. We have a saying at MZ: Real People. Real God. Real Life Change."

On Easter Weekend there will be a Back To Church Sunday event, where people are asked to invite a friend. MZ has an Easter service at 11am. On Good Friday, the Churches Together in Cardigan are planning an open air service at the Quay at noon.
