An Aberporth 90 year-old helped raise vital funds for charity when she celebrated her birthday recently.

Blodwyn Williams celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends, with a supper party at the Cliff Hotel, Gwbert.

She generously decided to ask for donations to Guide Dog as some of her many presents and along with a raffle organized by her daughter Hilary , raised £400 for the charity.

Local Guide Dog owner Rory Roberts, her husband, retired guide Dog Tilly and her fifth guide dog Nutmeg were invited to join in the festivities but no tasty tit bits for the doggies were allowed although they were both treated to a doggy treat when visiting Mrs Williams at her home in Aberporth.

Rory said: "On behalf of Guide Dogs we would like to thank Blod, her family and friends for this very generous gift. This wonderful charity would not survive without the generosity of the public and maybe this gesture from Blod and her family will give others ideas for giving. Thank you all so much."
