The charity “Welsh Hearts” has presented a defibrillator, designed to revive someone who has had a heart attack, to Llangoedmor Community Council.
It will soon be installed outside the Coracle Hall, Llechryd, and be available for use by emergency medical staff or members of the public.
Heart attack survival rates are closely related to the time between an attack and the receipt of treatment, but for the scheme to be effective in saving lives it is essential that as many people as possible are trained to use the equipment and, just as importantly, how to recognise the symptoms that indicate that defibrillation is necessary.
The defibrillator is simple to use, but a training session for anyone who wants to be prepared to use the system will be held at the Coracle Hall on Thursday, February 12 from 6.30 pm. Tuition will be given by the Welsh Ambulance Service Public Access Defibrillator Scheme and it is hoped that everyone who can will attend.
