A Cardigan man has admitted injuring a woman's nose after she threw his equipment on the floor.
Mitchell Luke Harrison, aged 23, of Y Rhos, pleaded guilty to assaulting Robyn Barber by beating on October 5, when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday.
The court heard that the defendant and Miss Barber had been in an on-off relationship for some time and had been out socialising until 4am on the day in question.
An argument between the pair escalated into a physical struggle and Miss Barber began throwing Harrison’s DJ equipment around the room.
Harrison swept a speaker off a table, which hit the victim on the nose resulting in a cut and swelling, but no medical treatment was required.
The defendant had scratches on his hands and head, and told police Miss Barber had hit and scrammed him. He stated he had not meant to hurt her but accepted his actions were reckless.
Magistrates were told that Miss Barber had not made a complaint.
Janan Jones, defending, said her client, a former Army driver, had not started the incident.
She said: “He told me he would never touch her.”
“This is something that blew up out of nothing. She was throwing his DJ equipment on the floor, this was a single push of the speaker to the floor.”
Magistrates imposed a six month conditional discharge and ordered Harrison to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
