A local man has been fined for driving without due care and attention, after losing control of his car and colliding with another vehicle.

Robert James Turner, aged 32, of The Caravan, Talgarreg, Llandsyul, represented himself when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday.

He indicated a guilty plea to the offence on an earlier occasion.

The court heard that Turner was driving his VW Golf on the A482 in the Aberaeron direction when he lost control while travelling at speed on February 21.

The car mounted the grass verge then veered into the opposite carriage way, resulting in a collision.

Turner told the court that road was very wet that day, and other vehicles had crashed on the bend in question.

He added: “I will accept that I was travelling too fast on that road for the conditions.”

Magistrates fined the defendant £95 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. His driving licence was endorsed with five penalty points.
