Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking the views of parents, teachers and the wider school community on introducing penalties for regular non-attendance at school.
Much of what the Council can do has already been decided by the Welsh Government and education law.
However, the school community can have a say on the criteria for issuing penalty notices on repeat unauthorised absences, holidays in term time and repeat late arrival at school.
The consultation also gives people the opportunity to comment on a draft Code of Conduct, which includes criteria for issuing penalty notices, and outlines how the council will manage the issuing of notices for regular non-attendance at school.
The council is also consulting with head teachers, school governing bodies and the police.
Visit www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay, or call 01437 764551 for a copy of the consultation’s response form.
The deadline for responses is November 14.
