A disqualified driver got behind the wheel at Penparc because he was ‘desperate to get home’.

Adam John Idris, aged 33, of 8 Grovedeale Road, Allerton, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without third party insurance when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday.

The court heard that Idris had been staying with family in the area, but felt he had ‘outstayed his welcome’, and was stopped by police when driving a Ford Mondeo on the A487 at Penparc on September 19.

At the time he believed his disqualification had expired.

Nick Newton, prosecuting, told the court that Idris had been disqualified from driving for 12 months by Liverpool magistrates in November 2013.

Mr Newton said: “He told police the reason he was driving was that he was desperate to get home.”

Magistrates fined Idris £130, and ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
