Aberaeron Tourist Information Centre is currently showing a collection of artworks by Sculptor Ben Dearnley and Artist Lynn Parr.

Ben and Lynn first met when Ben was showing some of his sculptures of Olympic athletes and Lynn was editor of the national art magazine Artists & Illustrators.

They met again 3 years later in October 2010 and married shortly afterwards, moving to West Wales to pursue their joint dream of finding inspiration in a beautiful place.

Ben and Lynn now work from their home studios near Caerwedros – Ben’s being a former chapel and Lynn’s a woodland cabin.

Ben is an internationally known sculptor, with large public works in Wales and England. He recently completed ‘The Bell Ringer’s Stone’ on Borth seafront, which was funded by the Welsh Government & Ceredigion County Council.

He explained, “I work intuitively with the material, using the direct-carving process in order to fully express my emotions and find the qualities within the stone.”

Lynn, whose work is held in private collections around the world, uses a wide range of materials and techniques, from traditional oil painting to collage and embroidery. In this exhibition she is showing paintings inspired by the coast and countryside of West Wales.

Lynn said, “I am inspired by dramatic light, colours, textures and the movement of wind and water. Most of all, I aim to depict the feeling of what it is like in that place at that particular time.”

Their work can be seen at the Aberaeron Tourist Information Centre, managed by Ceredigion County Council, until November 15th. The centre is hosting an ongoing series of exhibitions featuring Ceredigion Art Trail Artists & Makers. For directions and opening times visit http://www.discoverceredigion.co.uk/
