Newcastle Emlyn amateur dramatic group Attic Players has postponed all its productions while renovation work goes on at the town's Cawdor Hall.

A statement released by the group says: "Attic Players have regretfully decided that all scheduled productions in the near future will have to be postponed until the current building work on Cawdor Hall is completed to a stage where we feel the access and conditions of the Theatre are more acceptable.

"In the early stages of the building work we were assured there would be no impact on our group but it has become increasingly obvious that this is not the case. We were fortunate to be able to perform “Noises Off” in August and host three “CinemAttic” film screenings despite scaffolding and open windows, however as conditions have deteriorated outside and inside while evenings are becoming darker and colder it has become too difficult to ensure our audience's safety and comfort. We have tried to work around the upheaval and disruption, but feel that the quality and creativity of our presentation is being compromised beyond acceptable limits."

The group's Christmas production King Arthur has been scrapped but rehearsals will continue so that show can be rescheduled once the building is ready.
