Tír na nÓg play The Cellar Bar on Friday, October 10.

Around 40 or so years ago the UK was awash with a glittering array of top notch performers and one of these were the legendary Tír na nÓg - formed by Leo O'Kelly & Sonny Condell in 1970 they were quickly snapped up by Chrysalis Records recording three timeless albums for the label (recently re-issued by Cherry Red/Esoteric Records).

They are acknowledged as being two of the most original and influential songwriters and performers Ireland has ever produced.

John Peel championed the duo from the start, recording many Peel Sessions with them. They toured widely in the 1970s with bands as disparate as Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, The Who, Roxy Music and Steeleye Span, as well as headlining their own theatre, college and club gigs, garnering a large cult following, which still grows to this day. The duo's reputation for entrancing audiences with their magical live performances, whether festival or club, goes before them.

After a long absence the duo are once again touring in the UK and to long time fans they are sounding better than ever.

This year the band have released an E.P. of new songs through Fruits De Mer records who organised the Crabstock Festival at The Cellar Bar in April. To celebrate this happy coincidence the venue are giving away an exclusive Fruits De Mer CD of the band to everyone who buys a ticket.

Tickets £12 from The Castle Cafe & Cellar Bar or visit www.castlecafeandcellarbar.com.
