A judge has today criticised the delay in prosecuting two women from Llandysul accused of being responsible for violence at a wedding.

Lindsey Evans, aged 27, and Amie Gutteridge, 31, both of Heol y Bedw, Henllan, made a preliminary hearing before Judge Peter Heywood at Swansea crown court.

Judge Heywood said two years had already passed since the alleged incident at Drefach Felindre and it would take another six months to arrange a trial.

“It is unbelievable. What on earth has gone on?,” he asked, before quoting from Shakespeare with the words “justice delayed is justice denied.”

Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said he had already written to Dyfed Powys police asking for an explanation for the delay.

Evans and Gutteridge will attend a plea and case management hearing on December 19 when they will have their first opportunity to enter pleas at the crown court level.

They were granted bail meanwhile.
