The four Quaker meetings of south west Wales: Cardigan, Narberth, Milford Haven and St David’s, met together for a late summer picnic after meeting for worship at the Quaker burial ground near Sutton Haverfordwest, Known both as Sutton or Lambston Friend’s Burial Ground.
Gordon Blackburn from Cardigan meeting has been overseeing work to make the entrance safe, the picnic was to celebrate the work being finished. The Quakers were also joined by local residents who have taken an interest in the site – an avenue of beech trees leading to a walled burial ground, dating form 1661. Fortunately it was a dry sunny afternoon!
Members of the four Quaker meetings have been having a lot more contact than in the past, planning an outreach project: Quaker Quest, in Haverfordwest in October. A series of four evenings held at the Picton Community Centre giving those people interested, a chance to find out more about Quakers today.
