Failing to complete paperwork cost a Cardigan man £80, following a court hearing last week.
Edward Ian Biddyr, aged 35, of 3 Golwg y Castell, pleaded guilty to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday.
The court heard that Biddyr was driving a Ford Fiesta in Cardigan High Street on May 14 with an expired licence.
Alan Lewis, defending, said: “He has a valid licence, but a paperwork exercise had not been completed and his licence expired.”
Other charges of driving without third party insurance and failing to comply with a no entry sign were withdrawn by the prosecution.
Biddyr was fined £40 and ordered to pay £20 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
