Community councillors in Aberporth are to write to their counterparts along the south Ceredigion coast appealing to them to help fund the Cardi Bach bus service.
The service - which runs along the coastal villages providing transport for walkers and locals - has been scrapped due to the end of Welsh Assembly funding.
But Aberporth councillors - who funded the project by £800 a year in its early days - say they will be willing to give money again.
And they are angry that the £42k bus bought with grants for the service is now lying idle.
"It is ridiculous," said Cllr Gethin James.
"We have the coastal path with increasing number of walkers bringing millions of pounds into the economy. It was good not only for local people who used it but also for walkers accessing the coastal path. I think the scheme would get support from all community councils on the route."
And he added: "Ceredigion need to step up to the plate to help fund it."
He also called on local AM Elin Jones to put pressure on the Welsh Assembly to restore funding.
"If it ends it will be a great loss," he said.
