Described as “One of the world’s greatest performers.” by Maverick Magazine, Dorset based Stompin’ Dave Allen returns to the Cellar Bar, Cardigan on Friday 26th September. Dave sings, plays guitar, five-string banjo, fiddle, harmonica, piano and flatfoot dances often whilst simultaneously playing an instrument and singing. Dave has performed across the UK and beyond including appearances at major festivals such as Glastonbury Festival, Camp Bestival, Bestival, and The Secret Garden Party, and also top folk festivals like Cork Folk Festival, Warwick Folk Festival, and Priddy Folk Festival, to name a few. He has been invited to perform at both The Boogaloo Blues Festival on the Isle of Wight and The Great Dorset Steam fair for over five years in succession.

In recent years Dave has been regularly performing in art centres and theatres sometimes alongside touring musicians from the USA. Upon leaving university with a first class BA honours degree in Music in 2000 Dave joined Bournemouth based band The Producers, UK Blues Band of the Year award winners 1998-2001. Dave was winner of the Friends Of American Old-Time Music and Dance old-time banjo competition 2011 and 2013. “Stompin’ Dave’s is a master of all kinds of American roots music...a formidable musician and a true original.” The Daily Telegraph.

Performing alongside Dave on the night to present a unique evening of diverse music will be John Roberts aka the Barking Spider on spoons and voice. Resident of Ireland Spider is a tireless promoter of folk and roots music and also a fine performer. Over the years through his Barking Spider Music Agency John has worked with artists of the calibre of Shane Macgowan, Jackie Leven, Fairport Convention, Julie Felix and many, many others.

John was vocalist in Portsmouth based folk bands The Motherfolkers and An Seisun who over the years shared a stage with The Sawdoctors, Wolfstone, The Sharon Shannon Band, Altan, etc. The Barking Spider is exclusive UK agent for the legendary Country Joe and The Fish with whom he appeared on spoons at The Isle of Wight Festival 2004, becoming the first man to support the Rolling Stones on that humble instrument.
