A Coleg Ceredigion media student’s talents have been recognised by one on Ceredigion’s main conservation projects.

The Hafod Estate, which is under the care of Natural Resources Wales, has enlisted the help of Coleg Ceredigion student, Osian Pearson, to produce a short film which will be used on the trust’s website. The Hafod Estate, or Hafod Uchtryd as it’s originally known, lies 12 miles south-east of Aberystwyth and is recognised as one of the finest examples in Europe of a Picturesque landscape.

“What started out as part of my coursework as an abstract portrayal of a location, lead to a meeting with The Hafod Trust who offered me the chance to make a short film for their website,” explained Osian Pearson. “The promotional video, narrated in both Welsh and English, highlights the estate's beauty and history.”

Sophia Behraki, Creative Media Studies tutor at Coleg Ceredigion, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Osian, not only to see his work being used in a professional capacity by the Trust, but also a great opportunity to for him to use the camera, editing and production skills learnt on the course to create the films. His work on this project has provided first-hand experience of working with clients that will prove invaluable as he progresses onto a career in the creative industries.”
