Parents, governors, teaching and non-teaching staff, and other interested parties are being asked for their views on Welsh-medium education in Pembrokeshire.

The County Council will soon be launching a preliminary consultation on Planning for the Future of Welsh-Medium Education Provision in Pembrokeshire.

The consultation document will be on the council’s website at www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay from September 15.

There will also be six public meetings in October, including one in Ysgol y Preseli, Crymych, on October 8, 6.30pm to 8pm, in Welsh with English translation.

Those interested in attending will need to reserve their place by calling 01437 764551.

Councillor Sue Perkins, Cabinet Member for Education and Safeguarding, said: “The preliminary consultation provides the opportunity for ideas, opinions and comments to be heard at a very early stage of the consultation process.

“If specific proposals arise following the preliminary consultation, then a statutory process will take place.”

In June this year, the Council published its Welsh in Education Strategic Plan, which reflects its commitment to improve its Welsh-medium education planning and provision.
