A police charge book offering an interesting insight into the social history of the Teifi Valley is due to be sold at auction today (Tuesday).
The Newcastle Emlyn Police Register of Charges will come under the hammer via an internet sale by Mullocks of Ludlow auctioneers, with a guide price of £300 to £500.
LOT 286, Newcastle Emlyn – Crime And Punishment, is a police charge book covering the period early 1915 to early 1950s.
It was rescued from Adpar Police Station when it was closed and gutted by builders in the early 1970s.
The book includes listings of all those arrested, with information on charges, witnesses, property recovered, names of magistrates decisions of the courts and descriptions of the accused.
