A Cardigan teenager has been fined £50 for the ‘disgusting offence’ of urinating in a cafe doorway.
Luke Tristan Daniel Griffiths, aged 19, of 11 Felin Ban Estate, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place, when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday.
The court heard police officers on duty in Finch Square on May 5 spotted Griffiths urinating in a cafe doorway.
Officers noticed a urine stain on the door and found the defendant was clearly drunk when they approached him.
Alison Mathias, defending, said her client immediately apologised to the police for his behaviour, but had been ‘desperate’.
She added that police had already issued him with a six month ASBO following the incident.
Griffiths was fined £50 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
The presiding magistrate said: “This was a disgusting offence. It is totally unacceptable behaviour.”
