Ceredigion’s MP Mark Williams has welcomed the news from DHL that as of 1st January 2015, no Welsh post codes will be subject to a Remote Area Service.

This decision has been made by DHL following representations from Mark Williams, who expressed his concerns that this charge was unfair to those living in rural areas, particularly all those running the many small businesses that Ceredigion is home to.

A representative from DHL contacted Mark Williams to confirm that ‘We have now completed our operational capability review and I can confirm that from 1st January 2015, all Welsh post codes will no longer be subject to a Remote Area Service surcharge.’

Commenting Mark Williams said;

‘I am very pleased by this news. The surcharge of £16 per delivery is excessive, and is a real drawback for the many small businesses in the area. I am therefore very pleased that DHL have reviewed this decision. I look forward to the changed being implemented from the beginning of next year.’
